I have a vegetable gardening tip for you today. Stake your tomato plants as soon as you transplant them into their final growing spot. Once the plant reaches about 30 cm tall, place the stake roughly 15 cm away from the main stem. Doing this early helps avoid damaging the roots. Early staking supports the plant’s structure, allowing it to grow taller, spread its roots freely, and develop more leaves without collapsing under its own weight. For best results, prune regularly: remove the lower branches about 5 cm above the soil to improve airflow and reduce the risk of pests and disease. Pinching off the first set of flower buds also helps strengthen root development.

This seems like a good moment to sprinkle some happiness into your day with the following joke. It’s called “Back in the Day.”

A frustrated father vented to his friend:

“When I was a kid, getting sent to my room was a punishment. Now, my son’s room has a big screen TV, smartphone, gaming console, and a top-tier computer!”

“So, what do you do now when he misbehaves?”

“I send him to my room – where there’s nothing!”

And now we have a heartline from Yan-Zhu in China
