The vegan diet has been widely studied for its health benefits. The researchers observed that diets guided by ethical or compassionate motivations were linked to higher psychological well-being and stronger self-regulation. Psychologist and author Dr. Angela Crawford (vegan) likewise notes that many individuals who adopt the vegan lifestyle report heightened emotional awareness and a stronger sense of inner coherence.

When we nourish ourselves with clean, pure foods, clarity, vitality, and inner balance are more easily sustained, a state many practitioners describe as similar to the calm awareness cultivated through meditation. In contrast, consuming foods burdened with heavy or fearful energy can leave us feeling sluggish and exhausted.

Our Most Gracious Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) has often spoken about how the vegan lifestyle shapes the energy we carry within ourselves and the world around us. “Because the energy of veganism – with compassion and mercy in it – will change the atmosphere of this world in which you live. Then you will benefit.”

Buddhist nun Thích Nữ Tâm Tâm (vegan) expressed her understanding of how food carries energy and how that energy interacts with our own. “All plant-based foods always carry wholesome, positive energy.”

As internal energy stabilizes, people often notice small but meaningful differences, such as improved stamina, clearer focus, and a calmer emotional rhythm. One such individual is Ruzielle Ganuelas, a vegan writer and baker who openly described her transition to a whole-food vegan diet to improve her energy and overall well-being. Reflecting on her journey, Ruzielle says, “I healed myself and renewed my vitality through plants.”
